Tapuae Day Tour at Highland Paradise Cook Islands Cultural Centre
Overview

Offering a guided tour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 12pm, the tour includes the exploration of authentic historical sites that lay forgotten for nearly 150 years, re-enactments, restored maraes and faithfully rebuilt traditional buildings. These all recreate the ambience and spirituality of this sacred place where our ancestors lived, loved, fought and died. Guests will learn of the proud and sometimes, sad and sordid history of Rarotonga and the Cook Islands.

Amongst 25 developed acres of magnificent gardens and views, visitors will experience drumming, singing, dancing, weaving, carving, medicine making, storytelling and umu (underground oven) feasting - just as they were more than 600 years ago on this very spot!
