Atiu Island is a tropical wilderness. It still retains it’s original jungle and has become a sanctuary for endangered birds. Recent introductions are the Red Lorikeet and the Rarotonga Flycatcher. Atiu also has myriads of caves. One cave is the home of a unique bird that echo sounds its way through Anataketake cave’s dark caverns. Atiu has many birds for the lands small size and is one reason why the traditional name “Enuamanu” means “land of the birds”.
Several tours are available to see these birds.
Atiu features many other tours and events all available through Atiu Villas Tour Desk.
We have lagoon fishing trips, visits to the Tumunu or Bush Beer jungle gatherings, deep sea fishing with the locals, burial cave visits, historical tours, island discovery tours and coffee tours to our commercially produced Atiu Coffee or our handmade Atiu Island Coffee.
We can even organise your own personal island show.
Or you can explore the island at your own pace on our scooters, bicycles or Suzuki jeep.
A holiday on Atiu can be as event full or as relaxing as you want.
