Cook Islands and QOOK

 

The 3rd of September 2009 a new relationship between the Republic of Korea and the Cook Islands will be officially declared in Korea by the CEO of Korea Telecom and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Cook Islands.  Added to this official launch a dance group from the Cook Islands will also be showcasing Cook Islands Culture and Dance to the general public of Korea.

The 3rd  of September will be known in Korea as “QOOK DAY”

 Cook Islands Tourism in conjunction with Korea Telecom has come together in a co marketing campaign. Each entity saw much relevance and similarity of each ones brand and then joined forces in a marketing exercise to raise brand awareness in the international market. 

 Korea Telecom which is one of Korea’s top integrated wired/wireless communications service providers and are proud to be the first telecommunication business in the world to launch the world’s first wireless broadband service called “WiBro”.  Continuing this world first launch in March 2009 a new brand named in Korean “QOOK” and pronounced “COOK” was released and this brand is for all telecommunications and entertainment services that are purely dedicated for home users such as fixed line telephone, internet telephone, high speed internet and IP television.  This brand is therefore the link that connects the two brands “QOOK” and “COOK Islands”

 Aitutaki one of the 15 islands of the Cook Islands is famous and well known for its beautiful clear water lagoon filled with abundant of marine life and in 2007 was home to the reality show Survivor.  The country gained huge publicity internationally and attracted a lot of visitors to the Cook Islands and the final winner of Survivor Cook Islands was Yul Kwon a Korean.  This was also screened in Korea recently and due to the winner being Korean much research and interest about the Cook Islands has started to generate from the Korean people.

 Today’s historic event declared in Korea is believed to be the first in the world where a commercial brand will co market with another country and for that we the people of the Cook Islands will embrace this relationship and of course will keep it growing and establishing closer relationship between the people of the Cook Islands and the Republic of Korea.
